Have you been living under a rock for the past few months if so then you will not be aware that there is a huge rumour flying around that Google are planning on launching a brand new social service called “GoogleMe’.
GoogleMe is expected to be out in the Fall of 2010 autumn for those that don’t know what the Fall means 
News that Facebook has now surpassed Orkut in India as the number one social network comes twinned with a new Orkut Chrome extension. For those of you that don’t know Chrome is Googles version of a web browser its pretty neat and functions way better then the biggest used Browser Microsoft’s Internet Explorer or Ie for short.
the Extension will work in a similar way that Facebooks extension works but that you can only see when logged into Facebook and on their actual site. This new extension from Google allows you to keep up to date with your Orkut account from any site as long as your using Orkut.
This is a great step by Google to compete with Facebook we told you in an earlier article that Google would be going all out this year to rival Facebook and twitters dominance in the social networking sector.
This year we believe will be huge for Orkut as Google as just announced that its taken on a team of super programmers to build up Orkut and takeover Facebook and Twitter. The crew of coders are due to start their jobs at Google on the 1st of Feb and are led by Will Norris who made a statement on his Blog about taking over Facebook’s lead in the Social networking sector or at least trying to.
Google is buying websites left right and center we think that this is a great approach to building up outside interest in Orkut which is still currently the number one Social networking website in Brazil but not so elsewhere. We will bring you further developments as and when we hear of them.
Can you believe its been 6 whole years since Orkut was released to big bad world that is the web. What was one man’s dream has now become almost 100 millions peoples reality in Orkut.

OIrkut was started in January 22, 2004 according to the Orkut Wiki page and has gone on from strength to strength into what it is now. Orkut currently has well over 100 million users worldwide. Orkut is located in Brazil where is has the most membership base 50% of all Orkut’s users are from Brazil which is why the site is hosted there.
